My most excellent summer

Well, I'm back. It's been quite an adventure and I'm happy to report that today, everybody's happy.

Success.

The folks are independent once again. Dignity restored. Medical and care team in place. All in all well done. Thank God there are four of us.

Youngblood has surgery tomorrow. Our household grew by 2 cats. Here's what the living room looks like. That's Thad on his virgin adventure downstairs.

Unhook yourself from the future.

These last two weeks I've moved to the burgburb. It's rural, it's quiet and it's a busy place to be.

I keep reminding myself that not knowing is a good thing. It's ok to just trust that small inner voice and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I needed to step back. Now I have. Onward.

My heart sank

We don't have an occupancy permit. Talk about a hotel for the weekend, or setting up the beds and taking them up again so as not to be caught in violation of the code. In other words a lot of gyration because someone can't schedule properly.

The day for joyous packing turned into a stupifing waste of time. Again.

This will be over, sooner or later.

I broke another tooth at dinner.

Life goes on.

Youngblood's surgery

After the fourth dislocation since January (We reduced it ourselves this time. No big drugs, 2 hours, a hot shower and a sleep in his own bed. Much better) we scheduled Youngblood's surgery for Friday.

Wind at our backs, we'll bring him home from the hospital to our homeplace complete with beds, cable TV and a really sweet kitchen. We'll have our furniture that made it thru, the art, and luck be with us, our silverware.

Happy dance.

Yea, Thursday is stay at home day!

Tomorrow, I pack for the final transition, so we can be
ready for the next. It's doable.

It seems a little spooky not to be freaked right now, but
I'm not. I've been moving out of here since October.

All I need is a place to put it.

Tomorrow will be a joy.

Look Ma, No Porta Pottie.

Magic.

It's the first house on the left, you can't miss it. It's the one with the porta pottie in the front yard.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, 2 weeks ago we got power, today we did a 110 point preliminary punch list and everyone's just a little touchy. The end is in sight.

So, as we all know, change begins with an ending. And you know how I love change. So.
Tomorrow, a big woohoo for us, and a bon voyage, please.

Tomorrow will be our last Salon for a while.

To keep in touch during the transition, I'll be launching Living on the Edge, the Newsletter. Details on the call. Get the number here:

#24 Simplify Everything Conversation

I'm on my way to the land of decorated graves and simple lifestyles.

This week, let's talk about spring cleaning, simplifying everything and making room for what matters.

Register for the call, Wednesday 10 am.

#24 Simplify Everything

Youngblood's shoulder went out again while he was making a snack on Wednesday night. Despite having the "wheels greased" by his doc, we spent 7 hours in the emergency room, arriving back home at 5 am.

My internal clock has been reset, and I'm a mess. My only focus was one foot in front of the other, and doing what was absolutely essential. The basics, food, medication, sleep and climbing Mount Washmore.

#2 Unhook from the future

Thanks for checking in.

We're in week 58 of what I thought was going to be a 36 week (40 tops) temporary situation while our house was being rebuilt.

It's been interesting. When we moved into this house, it was literally with a week's worth of clothes and a file of papers that had accumulated since the fire.

From an unimaginable amount of stuff to nothing. Bliss. An opportunity to start fresh.

The things that were really important became evident quickly....

No call this Wednesday

Due to an emergency trip out of town, there will be no Salon call on Wednesday.

The 28 Principles of Attraction serve me particularly well when things get tough. Today, it's especially important for me to remember that being human is a good thing, that I must orient around my values and that delay is expensive.

happy Valentine's day sweeties.

31 days of gloom DONE!

January is traditionally tough for me. Don't know why, but after years of traumatic, life altering experiences and numbing depression in January, I just grit my teeth and go a day at a time, the goal being to survive and move on. This year was no exception, the challenges were big but not too big, and now it's time to clean up the mess and move on.

So, happy February 1 to us all. Tomorrow is Ground Hog Day and we will feast on barbecue knowing that spring is just around the corner. There's a house to move into (almost), a garden to plan and a good bit of mothering to do. Whoo Hoo!

In celebration, I'm offering you a telecourse centered around Thomas Leonard's 28 Principles of Attraction.

Starting February 8, 10 am Eastern, please join me for a very provocative introduction to the Principles.

Anniversary of the Fire.

Well, it was a year ago today that the hand of God moved me downstairs to check my email and make some lunch so the circuit panel where I was sitting could explode without killing me. Thanks. Whew.

It's been an interesting year for our family. Blessings and gifts. Lessons and tests.

We were able to focus on our immediate survival, safety and shelter and the protection of the property without the distraction of injury, fear of losing our income or worse. That was a blessing.

We were able to start fresh, safe and sound, for the duration, in one place, together. That was a gift.

We learned what's absolutely essential for our comfort, entertainment and well being. That was a test.

We wished we had trusted our gut. That's been the lesson.

We were able to keep our eyes beyond the completion of the house. That's skills.

So far so good. It's not over yet. Stay tuned to see pictures.

Happy New Year!

Hope you had a happy holiday. Some people love January, others dread it. What about you, exciting new beginning or 31 days of gloom?

Let's start the call this Wednesday (10 am eastern) with a look at our accomplishments in the past year. Can you list 25?

Please do, and list 'em here in the comments section or bring them to the call. It's always nice to start out feeling successful, don't you think? And, what better way for us to get to know one another in the best possible light.

I've got some fun things planned for us this year. Stay tuned. It's going to be a wild ride.

See you on the Salon:
